Eric Terrien won the Crossing Paris with a Stand Up Paddle

From daybreak, the quayside below the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (France’s National Library) was swarming with life, albeit rather an odd scene. Lorries having dozens of multi-coloured, Naish boards unloaded from them, groups of athletes warming up in their drysuits, boats arriving from every which way, laden with first-aid workers from the SNSM (RNLI equivalent) and then, in a matter of minutes, the Seine covered in silhouettes walking on water, as if it was the most natural thing in the world for surfers. It was an impressive start, the leaders immediately setting a hellish pace. Along the quayside, the first Parisian joggers couldn’t quite believe their eyes as they witnessed these guys gliding across the water down to the quays of Javel, before enjoying a comforting brunch at Microsoft.
The winner of the pro category is Eric Terrien, from the Bic Sport team, who is a real speed merchant, having already taken a win in previous editions. The second leg will be contested this afternoon in the pool at the Spot, at the heart of the international Nautic Paris Boat Show at the Porte de Versailles.
