Fujifilm sponsors Alex Bennett in the Class 40

Built in Totnes, Devon, ‘Fujifilm’ has been prepared for a major three-year campaign. Designed to compete in oceanic shorthanded races, the yacht’s first competitive event will be the 2007 Transat Jacques Vabre Transat Jacques Vabre #TJV2015 race, due to start in November 2007. The 4,000 mile race begins in Le Havre, France and finishes approximately one month later in Salvador Bahia, Brazil.

Fujifilm’s invaluable support has allowed us to give this project the true focus and commitment it deserves. We have a great design of boat and I just can’t wait to get sailing as we certainly have exciting times ahead.
“Class 40 is a brand new racing rule which promotes top-level ocean racing without the major financial budgets necessary to campaign larger boats, making yachting more accessible than ever before. The new class has been so well received within the yachting community that there are already well over 30 yachts at various stages of construction around Europe.”

West country-based Alex is a competitive professional yachtsman. In 2001 he won the Open 50 division of the prestigious Transat Jacques Vabre Transat Jacques Vabre #TJV2015 race, setting a new course record Record #sailingrecord that he still retains.
The Fujifilm yacht will be moored at berth 072 at the Southampton Boat Show, Southampton Mayflower Park, on Wednesday 19th September 2007.
