TTR WORLD TOUR : American snowboarder Jamie Anderson takes 2008 women title

American snowboarder Jamie Anderson came charging into the 07/08 season at full strength, ready to take on a huge batch of challenging adversaries and claim the 07/08 Tour Champion. And that’s exactly what she did. After a long season of tough battles, difficult conditions and a relentless field of competitors prepared to take her down, Jamie Anderson rode strong right through to the end, becoming the new 07/08 Women’s Swatch TTR Tour Champion.

Jamie’s season began to rocket at the 4-Star Garnier Fructis Australian Open where she took first place in the Slopestyle and 6th in the Halfpipe – her best Halfpipe result all season - placing her in the Women’s TTR Top 5. Her efforts in Australia set the tone for Anderson’s success, consistently landing on the podium in almost every Slopestyle competition she entered.

Anderson carried her momentum to Kaprun Austria for the 6-Star Roxy Chicken Jam, the first all-female 6-Star competition of the TTR Tour. After some gnarly weather conditions changed the contests location, Jamie proved she could adapt to any situation, busting out her smooth buttery style on the boxes and her solid spins off the kickers. Her efforts earned her a 2nd place in the Slopestyle jam pushing her into the TTR Top 3.

Over in Laax Switzerland, Jamie once again dominated the Slopestyle taking home her first 6-Star Title of the season at the 2008 Burton European Open. With Anderson stomping huge 540s off the kickers, busting out sick eggplants on the Quarterpipe and bringing back her buttery rail combos, there was no question as to why she won the Title. Although she didn’t post a high result in the BEO Halfpipe, by competing, Anderson earned enough points to take the Tour lead.

Jamie’s Slopestyle prowess continued as she battled with Torah Bright, Kelly Clark and Jenny Jones for a Top TTR position in the Slopestyle at the 5-Star Nissan X-trail Nippon Open in Alts Bandai, Japan. Her second place behind Jenny Jones extended her Tour lead as Torah and Kelly went into the 5-Star World Superpipe Championships.

Anderson’s next high result would be posted at the 5-Star Chevrolet Grand Prix in Killington, USA, where she once again stood atop the Slopestyle podium in third place. Jamie Anderson threw down a sick run with a Cab 5, FS 3, Straight Air and closed out with an always stylish BS 180 to keep her TTR World No. 2 position after being bumped down from Tour lead with an absence from the Superpipe Champs.

The prestigious 6-Star Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships in Stratton Vermont attracted a hefty field of highly talented riders, but Jamie didn’t let her guard down. A second place in the US Open Slopestyle helped maintain her TTR World No. 2 after all was said and done in Vermont.

But after a dense season of increasingly tense competition, it all came down to the 6-Star Roxy Chicken Jam at Mammoth Mountain, California USA. The excitement began with the Halfpipe. Torah Bright and Kelly Clark took top honours, as Bright held on to her Tour Lead from the US Open and Clarks 1st place pipe performance moved her ahead of Anderson going into the final event, the Chicken Jam Slopestlye. It was there where Jamie Anderson would rise to the occasion, crushing her opponents with style and methodical mastery to become the 07/08 Women’s Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour Champion.
