  Orange covers 500 miles in 24 h away from the Portuguese coast

  A "transbiscay" to set the boat up, a succession of gybes to clear Cape Finistere, then steer 180°, due south and the whole coast of Portugal is unfolding on fast forward to Orange’s windward. After one and a half day’s racing, the thirteen oilies of Peyron’s men are already drying in the Iberian sunshine.

  Orange back on the starting line on Saturday

  The maxi-catamaran Orange’s capshrouds and shrouds, which they were still waiting on wednesday to be returned from the USA, have arrived and have cleared customs. Philippe Peche and Vladimir Dzalba Lyndis dispatched to Paris to collect them are now on the way back to Vannes with their precious load !

  Bruno Peyron is seriously envisaging a fresh start with his maxi-catamaran

  With 200 miles still to go to the equator (at 13:00 GMT today), sailing conditions are hardly in Geronimo’s favour. The ten or so knots of wind available mean that the Cap Gemini Ernst & Young - Schneider Electric team trimaran is making very slow headway towards the Southern Hemisphere.
